Dear Community Member:
The Postmark is a community newspaper which has a history of showcasing businesses, community leaders, and residents. The Postmark was first started years ago by a couple named Randy and Stacy Gooden. They had a successful run for about 6-7 years and ended the publication of The Postmark due to having to relocate. About 3 years went by and the idea was suggested to bring back The Postmark. It was also a time when community leaders wanted to begin a Chamber of Commerce in Springfield and New Middletown. Combining the two seemed like a wonderful idea. March 1 of 2009 was the first issue of the new Postmark, which is now published monthly.
The paper is not run as a private individual’s business, as it was in the past with the Goodens. It is solely funded by advertising alone. At this time, there are no other costs charged to raise funds in order to offset printing and typesetting costs. Residents can pick up the paper for free at their local merchants. Classified advertising, at this time, is free to anyone who wishes to use it. Advertising is kept at a minimal cost used only to sustain our expenses. This is a not-for-profit public service to our community.
We are contacting you today in order to gain your support for this much needed community project. We have included in this packet: advertising costs, incentives for long-term contracts, samples of past issues of The Postmark, and a letter and chamber membership information for you to review. We truly need your support to keep the paper publishing.
Below is some information pertaining to the specs of The Postmark for your evaluation of this business expense. We hope that you will choose to be a part of this community effort and join the chamber and advertise in The Postmark. Should you have any further questions, please contact the appropriate person listed below. We hope to be speaking with you soon, and we thank you for your past and continued support.
Sincerely,
The Postmark
